Michigan Assessor Awarded First New Ad Valorem/Mass Appraisal - Residential Specialty Designation

May 20, 2013

The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is pleased to announce the awarding of its first new Ad Valorem/Mass Appraisal—Residential specialty designation to Ortonville, Michigan based Ronald E. Prat, ASA.

Mr. Prat is a specialist in Michigan real property valuations and consultation services for more than 14 years. He is currently principal of Silverpilen Corporation, and an active leader in his local community, including serving as vice president of the ASA Detroit chapter, and a member of the Michigan Assessors Association, Oakland County Association of Assessing Officers, the International Association of Assessing Officers, Michigan Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, and the Great Lakes Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. He also holds the Accredited Senior Appraiser designation in Real Property.

As the Society’s first candidate to be awarded the new designation, Mr. Prat is typical of the type of professional who the Society’s Real Property discipline leaders believe are in great demand.

Discipline Governor, Paul D. Roberts, ASA explains, “as state and local governments struggle to hire qualified specialists to conduct property reassessments, professionals who specialize in ad valorem or mass appraisal will be in great demand. Individuals who have been educated, tested and now designated will have a clear and distinct advantage.”

Discipline Chair, Samuel F. Luceno, FASA adds “We are very excited about the new direction of our program. The positive feedback by members and other professionals has been overwhelming and we look forward to continued success.”
