RESTON, VA (March 20, 2013) – The American Society of Appraisers announces the debut of a new Ad Valorem/Mass Appraisal specialty designation to be offered by the Society's Real Property discipline.
The new offering will be unveiled in an online presentation on Tuesday May 21, 2013 1:00-2:00pm EST that walks prospective candidates through the program's details, including: requirements, waivers, reciprocity and the benefits of being an ASA member in this field. "We are very excited about the new direction of our designation program," says Samuel F. Luceno, FASA Chair of ASA's Real Property Discipline Committee. "The positive feedback by members and other professionals has been overwhelming and we look forward to continued success."
Developed as a response to growing market changes, the new designation is designed for assessors and private practice mass appraisers, and will offer two tracks: Ad Valorem/Mass Appraisal—General and Ad Valorem/Mass Appraisal—Residential.
"Professionals who specialize in ad valorem or mass appraisal are in great demand," believes Paul D. Roberts, ASA Discipline Governor for ASA's Real Property Discipline Committee, "as state and local governments struggle to hire qualified specialists to conduct property reassessments. Individuals who have been educated, tested and now designated will have a clear and distinct advantage."
A complete overview of the new specialty designation is outlined in a white paper available.
