NAIFA Welcome FAQ’s

Effective July 1, 2018, the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers (NAIFA) will merge into ASA. Below are anticipated frequently asked questions to help new members during this transition.
 

BENEFITS

Q: Does ASA have partnerships with companies who offer discounts to members?
A: Yes, ASA has a very broad list of “Benefit Partners” who offer a wide array of beneficial services and discounts designed to support and advance your practice or career. To access this list and their corresponding links, visit www.appraisers.org, log in, select “ASA Benefit Partners” from the “Quick Links” menu located in the lower left side of your ASA Central page.
 

CHAPTERS

Q: Where can I find out more information about my local chapter and its officers?
A: Information about local ASA chapters may be found online on the “Regions and Chapter” page. To view chapter officers and website links, select the corresponding “Region” link.

Q: Is it possible to belong to multiple ASA chapters or the ASA International Virtual Chapter?
A: Yes, members have the option to belong to multiple chapters, including the ASA International Virtual Chapter. Complete information is available online at: www.appraisers.org/chapter/virtual.
 

COMMUNICATIONS

Q: Does ASA have an official member newsletter?
A: Yes, ASAValuer is the official member newsletter for the Society. The monthly publication is sent electronically to members and covers important news, discipline and local chapter updates, latest government relations actions, member advancements/accomplishments, upcoming educational offerings and valuable tips.

Q: Does ASA have a dedicated discussion forum for real property appraisers?
A: Yes, real property members can raise questions or participate in e-mail discussions simply by sending e-mails to: rp-members@list.appraisers.org. To set up or change preferences, visit www.appraisers.org, log in, select “My Forums” located on the left side of your ASA Central page, make the appropriate changes and select “Save Changes”.

Q: Does ASA have a dedicated social media day for real property appraisers?
A: Yes, every Wednesday ASA publishes social media posts focusing on real property appraisal themes, including important profession news, real property discipline announcements, upcoming educational offerings and much more. When visiting ASA’s Twitter page, simply use #RPWednesdays to quickly filter and view just real property content.

Q: How can I manage my ASA communications preferences?
A: As a member of ASA you’ll receive updates on upcoming ASA educational offerings, conference invitations and important announcements. To manage your communication preferences, visit www.appraisers.org, log in, select “Edit Profile” located in the center or top right corner of your ASA Central page, then select the red box marked “Preferences”, make the appropriate changes and select “Save Profile”.

Q: Does ASA’s website have a dedicated section for real property appraisers?
A: Yes, there is a special microsite that contains important news, upcoming classes, a Find an RP Appraiser search tool and links to valuable resources like the RP E-Journal. The site can be accessed here.

Q: Does ASA have any specialty designations for real property appraisers?
A: Yes, ASA offers several specialty designations for real property appraisers, including: Ad Valorem/Mass Appraisal, Going Concern and Appraisal Review. For more information contact an ASA credentialing specialists at (800) 272-8258.
 

EDUCATION

Q: Where can I find a list of real property themed ASA educational offerings?
A: ASA offers a variety of educational offerings, including national, local chapter and conferences. Each of these offerings reside in separate sections of the website. A comprehensive list is also published in the ASAValuer newsletter and in the monthly ASA Real Property Education e-blast.
