Dual Designation Walkthrough

Jul 09, 2018

New NAIFA Designated Members looking to take advantage of all ASA has to offer, should consider adding the ASA designation to your portfolio so you may join the current group of appraisers who are dually designated by both ASA and NAIFA.

Adding an ASA designation is easy, and can be completed online.

Before you begin the application process, please gather the following information:
  • A copy of your college degree or education background (for the Education and Experience tab)
  • A copy of your current NAIFA designation
  1. Begin your online application at www.appraisers.org/credentials.

Don't have time to complete the application process right now? You can save and return to your open application at any time by logging back into the ASA website and selecting “My Applications” on the left hand side. Once you submit your application you will receive system notifications from ASA regarding your progression through the review process.

  2. Upload documents (onto the Requirements and Documents tab):
  • A copy of your current USPAP certificate
  • Your Certified General or Certified Residential state license
  • Your current NAIFA designation (this is required for both the Course equivalency and General Requirement equivalency. This is necessary so the system can provide you with waivers for all the requirements you do not need to meet.)
  • A 5 year experience log - there are exemptions for the 5 year experience log requirement:
    • If you have held your NAIFA designation for 5 years or more AND/OR you have an active Certified General state license you are NOT required to submit an experience log
    • If you have held your NAIFA designation for less than 5 years AND you hold a Certified Residential state license you would need to provide your license number to ASA’s Credentialing Services department at credentials@appraisers.org so your information can be verified on the Appraisal Subcommittee’s National Appraiser Registry.
All other applicants must meet the experience log requirement.
Don't forget to use the campaign code mentioned above on the PAYMENT TAB.
This code will zero out all fees and once you have submitted your application and the system will send you a confirmation e-mail.
