Registration

On the first day of your scheduled course, registration is open at 7:30 a.m. Your registration packet and student manuals will be available.

Class schedule

Classes usually begin about 8:15 a.m. each morning and end around 5:00 p.m. However, your class schedule is set by your instructor(s) and can vary as far as start time, end time and when lunch and breaks occur. The individual course schedules are set by your course instructor(s).

Classrooms

Lunch hour

Your classroom will be secured during the lunch break. It's fine to leave your course materials in the classroom during lunch. However, please be aware that the hotel staff will enter the room from the "back of the house" to bus tables, etc. and, if you have any personal valuables, you should make arrangements to store them during the time you'll be out of the room. ASA cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.

When rooms are locked for lunch, they will not be unlocked until 1:00 p.m.

End of the day

At the end of the day, please take all your belongings, table tents, name badges, etc. with you. The hotel frequently uses the rooms in the evening for other events and "breaks down" our room setting and puts it back together in the morning before class. ASA cannot guarantee that your items won't be "tossed" during this process.

Room temperature

As anyone who is a frequent conference attendee knows, hotels often have a difficult time regulating room temperatures to everyone's agreement. Remember to dress in "layers" and to bring a sweater to all course sites. If the room becomes either too hot or too cold for the majority of people in your class, contact the ASA staff and he/she will talk to the hotel about regulating the temperature.

Food included with your registration

Breakfast

ASA course registration always includes breakfast, a mid-morning break and an afternoon break. Breakfast will be ready at 7:30 a.m. each morning.

*Breakfast is not included at courses held at university locations.

Lunch on your own

Access the hotel web site through the ASA Student Resource Center for nearby eateries. The hotel concierge and/or the front desk staff are a good source for other dining suggestions.

Wireless Internet Connections

At the instructors' request and to allow students to concentrate on their learning objectives, ASA does not provide a "conference code" or include a wireless internet connection in classrooms. Wireless internet is available in your sleeping room and in the "common" or lobby areas of many of the course hotels. Check your hotel's web site for details.
