Do not buy nonrefundable tickets until you receive your official course confirmation from ASA International Headquarters. ASA cannot provide reimbursement.
Americans With Disabilities Act Compliance
ASA agrees to make a good-faith effort to ensure that its meeting sites comply with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and its regulations and guidelines. Please notify ASA if you have a disability that may require accommodation by noting your request on the registration form or calling ASA headquarters in advance of your course. Your request will be held in confidence.
Calculators
All participants in these courses are expected to use a calculator in class. Real property courses require a six-function calculator (HP17BII recommended). Machinery and equipment courses require a calculator capable of doing exponential calculations. Business Valuation courses require a financial calculator able to perform annuity, compound interest and present value calculations.
Cancellations, Refunds and Transfers
There is no charge for cancellations received more than 30 calendar days before the first day of the course; after that deadline, registrants will be charged $100. Registrants choosing instead to "roll" their registrations to a subsequent course will be charged only $75. For that fee, ASA will transfer the registration and consider the registrant's tuition paid in full. Please note: Any intervening tuition increases are the responsibility of the registrant. All cancellations or substitutions must be requested in writing and may be faxed to Member Services at (703) 742-8471. If ASA is not notified in advance of the start date of the course, the registrant will be considered a "NO SHOW". There are no refunds for NO SHOWS. For more information regarding administrative policies, please contact our offices 800-ASA-VALU (U.S. and Canada) or (703) 478-2228.
"Challenging" or Testing Out of Courses
You may "challenge" or test out of a course by taking and passing the examination without attending the course in the Business Valuation discipline only. Challenges must be done in sequential course order and may be completed (by prior written arrangement only) at ASA couse sites, at ASA open examination sites, at ASA International Headquarters in Herndon, VA., or they may be set up individually at convenient locations. Please note that only BV Associates are eligible to challenge BV courses. The price for challenging a course is equal to the course tuition and includes the course manual. All retake/challenge applications take 7 days to process. Please call 800-ASA-VALU (U.S. and Canada) or (703) 478-2228 to set up a course challenge / retake exam and/or mail or fax the Retake / Challenge Application to ASA Accreditation Specialists, 555 Herndon Parkway, Suite 125, Herndon, VA 20170; 7103-742-8471 (fax).
Class Enrollments
Most classes are limited in size. Enrollees are registered on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of registrants for a class reaches the limit, additional registrants will be placed on a waiting list and immediately notified of such status. Courses may be cancelled at the discretion of the director of education.
Classroom Surroundings
The on-site course administrator will endeavor to ensure that course participants enjoy ample lighting, space, ventilation and freedom from distractions. Prohibited activities include smoking, tape recording and using portable telephones or personal pagers. Classroom use of laptop computers will be at the instructor's discretion. Voice amplification for instructors is provided when necessary. Refreshment breaks are provided; stretch breaks are encouraged. Dress is casual for students. Please contact the ASA on-site coordinator if you have any complaints or require assistance.
Complaint Resolution

Continuing Education Credit
ASA is approved as a course provider on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. All courses for which CPE credit is available are noted by the CPE hours. All courses eligible for CPE credit are taught as group-live offerings.
Enrollment Substitutions
Substitutions are permissible if ASA has been notified in writing prior to the first day of class. It is the responsibility of the original registrant to transfer to the substitute registrant, in writing and in a timely manner, all course-related information, including textbooks, schedules and pre-class assignments. Substitute registrants will be obligated to complete and sign the standard course registration form as part of the on-site registration process. Any prerequisite education and experience is applicable to the substitute registrant.
Examinations and Grading
The only authorized examination period at a Principles of Valuation course site is on the scheduled exam day for that particular offering. Participants are not permitted to take course examinations at any other time at the course site. Examinations are given on a pass-fail basis, and the passing grade is 75 percent for all courses. Course examinations are not returned to participants. All pass-fail notifications are mailed within two weeks after the conclusion of the course. Exam results are not given by telephone. Participants owing any course-related fees to ASA or who have not met the course prerequisites will have results withheld until such accounts are settled in full.
Lodging/Meals/Transportation
Course participants are responsible for making their own lodging reservations and for costs associated with their lodging, meals and transportation. At most locations, special group lodging rates have been negotiated and a reserved block of rooms will be held for up to 21 days before the course start date. At the three-week point, hotels usually release the room block for sale to the general public. Hotel reservations generally may be cancelled without penalty up to 48 hours before your arrival date.
