This course covers general valuation theory and principles that influence valuation; historical antecedents of modern appraisal practice; appraisal terminology; functions of appraisals and identification in the appraisal process; and factors affecting the valuation of process. Students will be issued a course manual in class.

Objectives:

  • Provide an overview of valuation theory within the context of the appraisal process
  • Introduce terminology of appraisal practice
  • Introduce procedural methods
  • Introduce the types of value and their application to various intended uses
  • Introduce ethical concerns of appraisers
  • Learn about economic concepts applicable to appraisals
