Course Overview:
The objective of this
multidiscipline course is to help both beginning and experienced appraisers
improve their written appraisal reports. Topics address the difficulties of
writing and how to overcome them, types of writing styles used in appraisal
reports, critical thinking skills, argument analysis, logical fallacies and
examples of good and poor writing.
Perhaps the most
important part of appraisal writing takes place before ever setting fingers on
the keyboard. This course is unique because it teaches experienced appraisers—as
well as those starting out—critical thinking skills, logic, and persuasive
argument. You will learn to select the appropriate writing style, pare down your
descriptions, identify and eliminate excess verbiage and support and drive home
your opinion of value succinctly and effectively
