GJ206 is a review of valuation principles and approaches including a USPAP
update and the current report writing standards for ASA and IRS “qualified
appraisers”. Included in the course are: hands-on stone identification;
qualitative analysis of gemstones and jewelry; a gemological update on diamonds
and colored stones; country of origin characteristics; natural vs. synthetic
gemstones; diamond and gemstone treatments; alternative gemological methods;
metals and methods of jewelry manufacture; and characteristics of contemporary,
period and collectible jewelry.
