RICS Diversity in the Real Estate and Construction Industry Seminar: Exploring the Benefits and Impact of Diversity across the Global Real Estate and Construction Industry.

Join us for an open discussion on diversity within the real estate and construction industry from all perspectives. You will hear from experienced professionals who will discuss the challenges and benefits resulting from diversity and inclusion and its impact on the future of our industry.

Discussions will also cover the breadth and depth of the professional real estate and construction sector and will focus on the paradigm shifts throughout this sector to realize emerging opportunities for all current and future professionals.

  • 10:00am: Welcome and Introductions by Bruce Kellogg, Chair, RICS US SE Chapter
  • 10:05am - 11:30am: Moderator:
    • The role of Minority participation (procurement / supplier diversity) & statistics on progress across the real estate and construction sectors.
    • The impact and growth of women in the commercial real estate profession.
    • An overview of the Appraisal Institute, its approach to diversity and the impact of technology on the appraisal profession as we know (or knew) it.
  • 11:30am - 12:05pm: Lunch/Networking break
  • 12:05pm - 1:30pm: Moderator:
    • On extolling the business case for ‘independent’ construction cost management amidst current industry challenge(s). A look to the future as students entering the workforce experience a new Diversity Dynamic.
    • An overview of AREAA, including its growth and impact of Asian-Americans and its diversity within the real estate industry, both commercial and residential.
    • An overview of the cost management profession with specific reference to the emerging technologies (with specific reference to 5DBIM) and ‘informed’ client relationships that exist across the globe. The growing presence of both domestic & international clients looking to invest in the U.S. amidst the growing appetite for professional services across the specific industry sectors and client groups. In seeking to identify with current and future talent, specific resources were established as the forum to happily convene the conversation regarding all ‘established’ strands of diversity within / across the surveying and real estate platform.
