Managed 7 officers in the California Commercial Group.  Eliminated potential loan losses by negotiating tightened term loan covenants.  Improved control by recognizing inadequacies, securing proper documen-tation and obtaining adequate guaranties on numerous unsecured credits.  Advised middle-market clients in avoiding poor investments by exposing false economies.

• Developed new business, more than doubling goals, and increased return on assets to 3.6%.

Evaluated and approved credits with personal unsecured lending authority of up to $1.5 million, and secured lending authority of up to $10 million in New York, Hong Kong, Chicago and San Francisco.  Solicited and structured over $1 billion in new commercial loans and related deposits.  Developed and taught early PC programs for on-line managers to price loans, track collateral and analyze financial statements.

•  Set up BofA's Wall Street Commercial Banking Division in New York in 1976; increased unit profits by $15 million by writing loan policy change for Wall Street investment banking clients.  Authored policy guide, "Lending to Security Brokers and Dealers."

•  Managed Hong Kong Multinational Division 1979-1981, a period of 30% compounded annual growth.

•  Reclaimed key domestic relationship by co-leading HK$617 million project financing syndicate.

•  Recovered $473,000 in compensating balance and service charge shortfalls.

•  Initiated concept of auctioning collateral on non-performing loans through a bank subsidiary.

•  Senior lead manager for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemicals, Kaiser Cement and other bank syndicates.
