Mr. John H. Barnet serves as a valuation specialist and financial advisor to CFO’s, CEO’s, business owners, attorneys, and other clients on business plans, appraisals, and transactions. These include 409A, 123R, 141R and estate and gift tax valuations. He has also served as an expert witness. Prior to becoming a valuation specialist, John served as an operational controller for Fairchild Semiconductor responsible for all manufacturing accounting throughout the world; group financial vice president for Teledyne, Inc. (a conglomerate with revenues of $5 billion); vice president, finance and CFO for Signetics Corp. (A merchant semiconductor company with revenues of $700 million owned by N.V. Philips Gmbh); and executive vice president, finance and CFO for Trimble Navigation Ltd. (TRMB). He also has served as consultant, interim financial vice president, and vice president of finance for emerging growth companies two of which he served as CFO through initial public offerings.
In the banking sector, he was the founding director for Bank of America’s private bank in Palo Alto, California reporting directly to a vice chairman of the bank. In this capacity, he had the authority to approve loans on his signature up to $10 million to individuals and their businesses.
He has also served as an advisor for emerging technologies to McKay Shields Financial Corporation, a pension fund manager with over $5 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Barnet has a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, an MBA degree from Columbia University, and was a participant in an advanced financial management program at Harvard University Graduate Business School. He has been a Certified Management Accountant with the American Society of Certified Management Accountants, and received a Certificate in Personal Financial Planning from the University of California.
He is currently a member of Financial Executives International and is an Accredited Member of the American Society of Appraisers currently serving on the Northern California/Nevada board as the chairman for business valuations.
