Mona is the owner of Pacific Gemological Laboratories and has been actively involved in the jewelry trade since 1980. She is completely certified and is qualified by successfully completing all yearly examinations given by her profession to test her knowledge and by a number of years of upstanding service in the industry.

In addition to her memberships in AGA, NAJA, & AGTA, Mona is currently serving on the ASA Education Foundation, Gems & Jewelry Discipline Committee, the  Budget and Finance Committee and the International Education Committee.

Gary Smith, GG, ASA Master Gemologist Appraiser®

Gary Smith, GG, ASA, MGA

  

Gary is recognized as a master goldsmith, specializing in the identification and authentication, as well as the repair and restoration of antique jewelry and artifacts.  He is an accredited senior appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers with the designation of a Master Gemologist Appraiser, and is this countries first and foremost forensic gemologist.

In addition to his many degrees and designations, he has over 40 years of experience as an internationally recognized teacher, lecturer, and appraiser of gems and jewelry for private clientele, banks, insurance companies, legal firms, and the State of Pennsylvania Treasury Department.

Douglas J. Garrod, FGA, DGA

Doug Garrod entered the jewelery trade in 1979, in the manufacturing and repairing side of the industry.  He moved into the retail sector, working for various companies before managing a shop in his home town of Torquay.  In 1992 he moved to London to become the Education Executive at Gem-A the Gemmological Association and Gem Testing Laboratory.

Doug passed his diploma in Gemmology in 1983 and began teaching evening classes at a college in Exeter, Devon two years later. He gained his gem Diamond Diploma in 1993 and is a European Gemmologist.

Joining Gem-A in 1992 is now involved in developing short courses in all aspects of gemstone knowledge in the United Kingdom and around the world, as well as teaching both Gemmology and Diamond diploma courses.
