The Business Valuation Committee of American Society of Appraisers has established a Tax Reform Task Force to study the TCJA and provide guidance to ASA members as to how the law may affect business valuation methods and procedures. In this, the third of a series of live and recorded webinars, members of the Task Force will discuss Fair Value and Intangible Asset Impacts.

Instructor(s) Information

Greg Ansel, ASA is a partner at Armanino and specializes in providing valuation services and financial analysis to clients of all sizes and stages of development, for diverse purposes. While he focuses primarily on high tech and biotechnology companies, Greg has experience valuing businesses in many industries. These include enterprise software and SaaS entities, as well as entities in the data mining, big data, security, optimization and gaming industries, and drug discovery, medical devices and other life science segments.

Raymond Rath, ASA, CFA, is a Managing Director with Globalview Advisors LLC, an independent valuation firm with offices in Irvine, Boston and London. Ray led the development of the ASA’s two courses in intangible asset valuation. Ray has worked closely with fixed asset and real estate appraisers on purchase price allocation and other multi-discipline projects for over thirty years. Ray holds ASA designations in Business and Intangible Asset valuation and Appraisal Review and Management.

William Johnston, ASA, IA/BV is Managing Director of Empire Valuation Consultants where he has worked since 1994. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) of the American Society of Appraisers, and one of the first recipients of the American Society of Appraiser's intangible asset designation.Bill has over 20 years of experience in business and intangible asset valuations. He has managed and prepared numerous valuations for financial reporting purposes, including purchase price allocation, goodwill impairment testing, cheap stock and Stock Compensation (ASC 718) and 409A.

Anthony Pumphrey, ASA, CFA is Vice President of Valuation Research Corporation. Mr. Pumphrey has over 10 years of experience performing business enterprise valuations, purchase price allocations, impairment analyses, and the valuation of claims within complex capital structures for public and private companies under IRC 409a, ASC 350, ASC 360, ASC 718, ASC 805, ASC 820, and ASC 852. Prior to joining VRC, Mr. Pumphrey was with Hempstead & Co., where he provided valuation opinions for estate and gift tax planning, financial reporting, employee stock ownership plans, litigation support, and the issuance of incentive stock options.
