ASA HSIG Healthcare Valuation Education Program a Success

The American Society of Appraisers Healthcare Special Interest Group recently completed the first round of classes for its new advanced multidisciplinary healthcare valuation education program.

Launched back in August, the program hosted a series of four webinar course sessions and a two-day, in-person course with review and examination held in conjunction with ASA’s Joint International Appraisers and Advanced Business Conferences in San Antonio, TX.

To date 75 valuation professionals participated in the program, with 59 individuals completing two or more of the course sessions. Congratulations to the 15 accredited senior appraisers who completed the entire program and have been awarded a Certificate of Completion. Awardees include: Gerald L. Bontrager, ASA, John M. Christensen, ASA, Robert James Cimasi, ASAEdward G. Detwiler, ASA, Jeffrey A. Dunkle, ASA, J. Gregory Endicott, ASA, Austin A. Engelhardt, Robert M. Haas, Jr., ASA, Jeffrey A. Hutton, ASA, David B. Koller, ASA, Joshua Lefcowitz, ASA, Arthur H. Marshall, ASA, Carl B. Miceli, ASA, Paul T. Swain, Jr., ASA and Matthew R. West, ASA.

The new program’s curriculum provided a unique and comprehensive look at cross-discipline aspects of the healthcare industry when viewed from an appraisal perspective during five live course sessions (four webinars and one, two-day, in-person course) offered from August to October, 2013.

ASA’s International Education Committee Chair, William M. Engel, ASA, praised the program saying “We are all quite pleased with the success of the new HSIG program and how it is providing training on hot topics trending within our profession. Perhaps the best part is how it highlights the extensive pool of industry experts within ASA’s membership and their dedication and commitment to furthering our profession by educating the next generation of multidiscipline appraisers.”

ASA’s HSIG subcommittee, who developed this new educational offering was comprised of Robert James Cimasi, ASA (Chair), Ernest A. Demba, FASA, Sandra J. Tropper, ASA, Edward G. Detwiler, ASA and Charles A. Wilhoite, ASA.
