Special Invitation to Motor City Marvels from Conference Committee Chair

Dear Colleagues,

I’m sure you have already heard the buzz for this year’s 2018 Personal Property Connoisseurship Conference being held in Dearborn, Michigan on May 3-5, 2018. We are so excited to hold the conference in Dearborn, a neighboring city of Detroit. Dearborn is the home of Henry Ford and the world headquarters of the Ford Motor Company and Detroit is home to a unique stock of architectural monuments, historical places. The city’s diverse culture allowed huge influence in music, with the city giving rise to the genres or Motown and techno, a topic which we will explore at the conference.

Attendees will enjoy off site visits to historical places such as the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), Henry Ford Museum/Benson Ford Research Center. The DIA has one of the largest art collections in the United States. Attendees will enjoy an evening at the museum, which houses over 100 galleries and a 1,150 seat theatre. The Henry Ford Museum is a 12-acre site with a collection of automobiles, aircrafts, locomotives and much more. The Benson Ford Research Center focuses on archival, photographic, and manuscript material to allow visitors to gain a deeper understand of American history.

The conference will host over 14 experts presenting on topics such of art forgery, archives, IRS, USPAP, Motown music, city of Detroit's bankruptcy and more. Attendees will enjoy a riveting discussion on archives with our six-person panel. Appraisers, auctioneers, museum curators, insurance underwriters, estate attorneys and others with an interest in personal property will benefit from this unique opportunity to acquire practical knowledge and insight from highly esteemed experts in dealing with these important segments of the market.
