ASA to Launch New Ally Membership for State Certified Real Property Appraisers

by Todd Paradis | Jul 05, 2019

ASA is set to launch a new Ally membership for state certified real property appraisers. The new class of membership will provide exclusive discounts on educational and conference offerings; subscriptions to official Society communications; enrollment in a local or virtual chapter; eligibility to serve on select volunteer committees or task force; regulatory advocacy and expanded referral and networking opportunities via ASA’s global membership.

The driving force behind the development of the new class of membership is the significant amount of real property appraisers who do not hold a designation from a professional organization since the passage of Title XI of FIRREA in 1989 and the subsequent introduction of state appraiser licensing and certification, explained Paul D. Roberts, ASA, CTA, Chair of the Society’s Real Property Discipline Committee and Senior Vice President of New Jersey based International Appraisal Company (IAC). ASA’s CEO, Johnnie White, MBA, CAE, added further by stating an additional factor is the growing demand by state certified real property appraisers looking for a more formal organization to address issues affecting their profession and livelihood.

To qualify for new ASA Ally membership professionals must: hold a current state-issued real estate appraiser certification; have three (3) years of full time appraisal experience; comply with ASA’s Code of Ethics; and pay annual Ally member dues.
