The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is pleased to announce the officers of the ASA St. Louis Chapter 049 for 2015-2016:
President – Robert James Cimasi, MHA, ASA, MCBA, FRICS, CVA, CM&AA, serves as Chief Executive Officer of HEALTH CAPITAL CONSULTANTS (HCC). Mr. Cimasi has over thirty years of experience in serving clients, with a professional focus on the financial and economic aspects of healthcare service sector entities including: valuation consulting and capital formation services; healthcare industry transactions including joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; litigation support & expert testimony; and, certificate-of-need and other regulatory and policy planning consulting. Mr. Cimasi is the author of numerous additional chapters in anthologies, textbooks, and legal treatises; has published articles in peer reviewed and industry trade journals, research papers, and case studies; and is often quoted by healthcare industry press. In 2006, Mr. Cimasi was honored with the prestigious “Shannon Pratt Award in Business Valuation” conferred by the Institute of Business Appraisers. In 2013, Mr. Cimasi achieved the Certificate of Completion of the ASA Healthcare Special Interest Group’s (HSIG) Multidisciplinary Advanced Education in Healthcare Valuation Program. Mr. Cimasi serves on the Editorial Board of the Business Appraisal Practice of the Institute of Business Appraisers, of which he is a member of the College of Fellows, and as Chair Emeritus of ASA HSIG.
Vice President – Elliot Graf, ASA, CFA, serves as Senior Manager at KPMG, and is part of KPMG’s Economic and Valuation Services (EVS) practice. Prior to joining KPMG, he was a Senior Manager with Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics, where he performed valuations of business entities, intellectual property, intangible assets, common and preferred stock and other securities along with partnership interests. Mr. Graf has achieved his Accredited Senior Appraiser designation in the Business Valuation discipline.
Secretary – John R. Chwarzinski, MSF, MAE, is Senior Vice President of HEALTH CAPITAL CONSULTANTS (HCC). Mr. Chwarzinski holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, as well as, a Master’s Degree in Finance from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Chwarzinski’s areas of expertise include advanced statistical analysis, econometric modeling, and economic and financial analysis. He is a candidate for the Accredited Senior Appraiser designation from the American Society of Appraisers.
Treasurer – Terry Richars, CPA/ABV, ASA, is the Director of Accounting Services for Mueller Prost. He has over ten years of experience providing business valuation, litigation support, forensic accounting, individual, corporate and partnership income tax returns, SAS 70/SSAE16 reporting, and consulting services. He primarily works with privately-held and middle-market organizations across various industries, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and the legal community. His assistance in reporting on realistic prospective financial statements has contributed significantly to the financial success of a number of start-up and expanding entities. In addition, he has performed business valuation services for gift and estate tax reporting, management planning, ESOP, marital dissolution, and other purposes and has rendered litigation support services relating to personal injury, breach of contract, marital dissolution, and various business-damages cases including lost profit analysis and business valuation issues. He has also provided expert witness testimony in the state of Missouri and Illinois.
Director of Member Recruitment – Mary H. Carpenter, ASA, AAA, MVS, has been a trusted fine art appraiser for institutions, attorneys, collectors and various government entities for over three decades. Ms. Carpenter specializes in the appraisal of American and European paintings, sculpture, works on paper and prints and has earned some of the most extensive credentials in the field. Her services include fine art appraisal reports for insurance, donation, estate and litigation purposes. From assessing one piece of art to collections of over one thousand works, Carpenter is available to help clients determine the value of their art.

Congratulations to the Chapter! In recognition of the Chapter’s E- Letter, the Chapter was the recipient of the ASA’s “Best Chapter Newsletter” award. Ernie Demba accepted the award on behalf of the Chapter at the American Society of Appraiser Conference in Washington, DC. Our first chapter E-Letter was published in September of 2009. The Chapter was recognized for the “Best Chapter Newsletter”award in 2010 as well.
