Mentor / Protégé Program - New This Year!

Having a mentor is a key element to becoming a great leader, and being a leader means you have experience and expertise that can help others succeed.

The Mentor / Protégé Program is designed to bring together veteran appraisers with first-time annual conference attendees, candidates, applicants and nonmembers for a unique and dynamic learning experience. Its objective is to welcome first-time attendees and new members to the annual conference by having a seasoned attendee introduce them to members during networking events and answer questions they may have about ASA and the profession in general.

Please check the appropriate box on the registration form. ASA will notify all Protégés and Mentors of their matches after July 15, 2008. For more information on this program, please contact Sabri Math at (800) 272-8258, ext. 106 (U.S. and Canada) or 703-733-2106 or Smath@appraisers.org .

Why Minneapolis? Because:

  • It tops the charts when it comes to the best places to live, work and play. It’s one of the most inviting cities you’ll ever visit!
  • It leads other U.S. cities in terms of business, entertainment, culture, restaurants, shopping, recreation, healthy living, environmental friendliness…and just plain “smarts.”
  • This City of Lakes includes the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway—a 50-mile loop that offers an unsurpassed view of Minneapolis by bicycle, “blades,” foot or vehicle.
  • Summertime in this city is COOL!

Minneapolis.org is the official Web site of Minneapolis, Minnesota Tourism.

Why This Conference?

It’s time for a meeting experience unlike any other—where glass architecture meets outdoor adventure, and down home people meet uptown style.

Always On…

The city of Minneapolis is home to nearly 40,000 residents and almost 200,000 workers. It’s not closing down at 5 p.m.; it’s just getting started! Downtown also offers:

Vibrant theater and arts—Some can’t misses: Hennepin Avenue Theatre District, the Guthrie Theater and the Walker Art Center.

Amazing restaurants—Try outposts by celebrity chefs: 20.21 by Wolfgang Puck at Walker Art Center and Chambers Kitchen by Jeans-Georges at the Chambers Hotel

A hot music scene—Some of the most lauded places include the Dakota (jazz) and First Avenue (everything from rock to hip-hop).

Arts and Culture…

USA Today, New York Times, Time, Newsweek, Travel + Leisure—They’re all raving about Minneapolis’s booming arts scene: A half billion dollars in new arts infrastructure, all designed by international architects and all located in or near downtown.

Walker Art Center: It has doubled in size with the expansion and houses a Wolfgang Puck restaurant and a performance space, along with new galleries for its contemporary collection.

Guthrie Theater: The spectacular new three-theater complex on the Mississippi Riverfront is not only a destination for shows, but also a place to eat, shop and simply enjoy the views.

Minneapolis Institute of Arts: Known as one of the country’s best comprehensive museums, attendees will enjoy art that spans centuries in a newly expanded building.

World-Class Dining…

Whether you prefer a quiet dinner, an after-work happy hour, or a night out on the town, Minneapolis offers a wide variety of world-class restaurants and clubs to match your style.

Nightlife…

The Warehouse District is the center of Minneapolis nightlife where upscale bars, dance clubs and hip food finds line the streets. Theater buffs can stay out in the Hennepin Theatre District after the show; it's home to plenty of nightspots. Or check out the Riverfront District straddling the river; it's one of Minneapolis's newest hotspots, with trendy wine bars and off-center nightlife.
