Shopping, Shopping and More Shopping…

Mall of America
Mall of America

It's so much more than a mall. It's the country's largest shopping and entertainment complex. Not to mention:

  • It’s got it’s own zip code.
  • More than 11,000 people work there.
  • You’ll walk a half-mile around one level (there are 4!).
  • It’s home to more than 20 sit-down restaurants, from casual to upscale.
  • If you spent 10 minutes browsing at every store, it would take you 86 hours to get through them all!
  • There is no sales tax on clothing or shoes in Minnesota.

Stores Galore

Mall of America makes for one power outing. Its more than 520 stores are nestled among a variety of other attractions that make for a perfect shopping excursion.

Family attractions include:

  • The Park at MOA, the nation’s largest fully enclosed theme park, spanning 7 acres and featuring 28 rides and attractions
  • Underwater Adventures, a 1.2 million gallon walk-through aquarium—1 of only 3 of its kind
  • Lego Imagination Center, a hands-on playland of Legos galore
  • NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway, indoor stock car racing competition
  • Moose Mountain Adventure Golf, 18 holes of miniature golf fun

Hiawatha Line light rail
Hiawatha Line light rail

Minneapolis is compact and easy to get around no matter what mode of transportation you choose.

Public Transportation

Catch the Hiawatha Line light rail or a city bus from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport—costing $1.25 to $2.75 (depending on the route and time of day), one way. The train runs between both MSP terminals and continues right into downtown in less than 30 minutes.

To ride the train: Take the escalator down one level from the Tram Level to purchase a ticket from the vending machines. Take the escalator down another level to board. Bus service is also available, up a level from the Tram Level.

Visit the Metro Transit site for schedules and more info.

SuperShuttle

Don’t mind sharing a ride into downtown? SuperShuttle is an easy, low-cost option that circulates between MSP and downtown hotels for $15 per person (one way). Ticket counters are located in MSP’s Ground Transportation Atrium, accessible via the Tram Level.

Taxi and Limo Services

Taxis are available at both MSP terminals. At the Lindbergh Terminal, taxi service is available from the Tram Level. At the Humphrey Terminal, taxis wait at the Humphrey Ground Transportation Center, in the Humphrey Parking ramp on Level 1. Cab fare from MSP to downtown is about $25.

Ticket counters for scheduled limo transportation are located in the Ground Transportation Atrium, one floor up from the Tram Level in the Lindbergh Terminal. Carey Limousine, Corporate Car & Coach, Eclipse and Premier Transportation are 3 limo options available at MSP.

Light Rail Transit to the Mall of America

The light rail runs every 10–15 minutes during the day. Travel time between downtown and Mall of America is about 30 minutes. At the Mall, the Transit Center is under the Mall at 24th Avenue.
