There are no licenses granted for business valuators. Therefore, it is very important that you hire a qualified practitioner. You can search the ASA directory to find an ASA-accredited appraiser who is working in your area. 

Once you have located an appraiser who practices in the discipline you want and your particular specialty area, ask the prospective appraiser to supply a résumé and references. Every reputable accredited appraiser will provide this information. You shouldn’t hire someone who doesn’t readily provide this information.
