A Short History of Gems and Jewelry Appraising in the American Society of Appraisers Released
ASA’s Gems and Jewelry Discipline this year is celebrating its 20th anniversary, although its roots in the Society go back much earlier. Its path to autonomy is connected to world events of the 1970s and the development of personal property appraising since that time.
To commemorate this milestone, current GJ chair Scott Gordon, ASA, MGA®, along with support from discipline committee volunteers and ASA headquarters staff, recently published a look back on GJ’s history since the earliest days and the role it plays today in the Society’s mission to increase public trust in professional appraisal practice.
