Accreditation Approval Process

The accreditation package consists of:
Accreditation Application
Chapter Processing Report (completed by your chapter)
Education/equivalency documentation
Accreditation examination
Appraisal reports

When complete, your accreditation package will be forwarded by ASA Headquarters to the International Board of Examiners.

  1. Review of the accreditation package takes approximately 60 to 70 days.

  2. Your accreditation in the professional status of Accredited Member (AM) or Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) depends on:

    1. approval of your local chapter (chapter has 60 days for the approval process);
    2. approval of your full-time-equivalent appraisal experience;
    3. approval of your educational background;
    4. approval of your appraisal reports;
    5. determination that you have passed the written examination, passed the Principles of Valuation courses, or fulfilled the appraisal proficiency requirement through the equivalency program.

  3. The entire accreditation package will be reviewed by two members of the International Board of Examiners.

  4. ASA will notify you by mail of the results of the review of your package.
