Reaccreditation

All designated members are required to submit evidence of professional growth through continuing education and/or participation in professional activities to remain an accredited and designated ASA or AM. Those Accredited Senior Appraisers (ASAs) failing to reaccredit will be changed to the grade of Accredited Member (AM). Those AMs failing to reaccredit will be changed to the grade of Candidate.

TThe deadline date for reaccreditation for each designated member is five years following the date of original accreditation or five years from the last reaccreditation. The reaccreditation date will not change with a change in designation.

One hundred (100) hours of credit are required to reaccredit for a full five-year reaccreditation period. A designated member who has accumulated less than the necessary and required hours for a full five-year reaccreditation may request reaccreditation for fewer than five years. Following are the current authorized alternatives to the full five-year reaccreditation:

80 hrs. 100 hrs. 32 hrs. 4 additional yrs.
60 hrs. 80 hrs. 24 hrs. 3 additional yrs.
40 hrs. 60 hrs. 16 hrs. 2 additional yrs.

A minimum of 40 percent of the hours required must be in the category of continuing education (sections 1-3 of this booklet), which must include successful completion of a 7-hour USPAP course except for the Business Valuation discipline (those designated members have been relieved of the requirement to take USPAP every 5 years). Members of the Real Property discipline must completed two (2) 7-hour USPAP update courses. Continuing education also includes speeches, instruction and other participation in educational programs in the appraisal profession; published articles and other literary contributions to the appraisal profession. The remaining 60 percent of the hours can be in organizational participation. Credit hours earned must be in the five-year period prior to your application for reaccreditation.

Evidence of professional growth must be described and documented on the following pages and submitted to ASA Headquarters in order to achieve reaccreditation. It is important that all relevant information be included with this form.


Instructions:
  1. Complete sections 1-4 of this booklet, signing the affirmation statement on page 17 of the booklet.
  2. Attach all necessary documentation, including evidence of having taken a 7-hour USPAP course. (2 7-hour USPAP courses for the RP discipline.).
  3. Attach $200 reaccreditation fee.
  4. Mail the completed form and attachments with the reaccreditation fee of $200 to:
