Experience:    Naval Officer, Analyst/Appraiser, Author, Public Speaker, and Entrepreneur

 

                             (1)   Valuation of privately-held businesses for litigation support, estate and gift tax reporting, financial reporting, and mergers/acquisitions, including fairness opinions and purchase price allocations.

                            

                             (2)   Valuation of publicly traded securities for securities class action litigation.

 

                             (3)   Analysis and calculation of economic/commercial damages.

 

                             (4)   Venture capital investment.

 

                             (5)   Expert witness testimony.

 

                             (6)   Developer of a technique which quantifies company-specific risk for publicly-traded stock for the first time in the business valuation profession.  Led the national/international introduction of the technique, known as the Total Cost of Equity Calculator and/or the Butler Pinkerton Calculator, to assist in the appropriate determination of a private company’s cost of capital.

 

                             (7)   Primary author of articles in Business Valuation Review, Business Valuation Update, Business Appraisal Practice, The Value Examiner, Valuation Strategies, The Idaho Business Review and The Adjusting Entry.
