Appraiser Profile:

Frederick C. “Chuck” Bertsch has over 35 years of experience in finance, corporate development and business valuation.  He has completed more than 60 mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and related transactions.  His career includes service as chief financial officer of an NYSE company (Enterra Corp., now part of Weatherford International), project manager with an international consulting firm (Cresap, McCormick & Paget, Inc.) and supervisor in the Controller’s Office of the Ford Motor Company.

 

Since 1987, Mr. Bertsch has operated F.C. Bertsch & Company, Inc., a firm which provides business valuation services.  Prior to 2001 the firm also assisted clients with corporate development strategy, locating buyers and sellers of businesses, structuring and negotiating  transactions, and obtaining financing.  Valuation services have been provided to the clients of many area law and other professional firms.  Other clients have included: a portfolio company of DB Capital Partners (Deutsche Bank), Independence Blue Cross, Philadelphia Suburban Corp., Betz Laboratories, SPS Technologies, Pennsylvania Truck Lines, Inc. (Conrail subsidiary), Pennsylvania Blue Shield, Physician Services, Inc. (American Express subsidiary) and other public and private companies. 

Mr. Bertsch has experience with manufacturing, construction, industrial services, professional services, distribution, technology, transportation, utility and natural resource businesses.  He has managed in rapid growth, crisis, startup and public and private company environments.

During his career, Mr. Bertsch has written numerous articles and lectured on valuation and corporate finance topics.  He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers and is listed in both Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Finance and Business; he belongs to the Philadelphia, Delaware and Chester County Estate Planning Councils, and is a graduate of Wharton (MBA, Finance) and Wesleyan University (BA, English).
