Step 3: Candidate Requirements
Once your applicant requirements have been completed, you will move to Candidate status. Candidates who have met their discipline's accreditation criteria, may submit an application for accreditation to include:
- Complete and signed accreditation application;
- Proof of education;
- Appraisal experience log;
- Appraisal report(s); and
- Current USPAP certificate.
Applications for accreditation are based on the applicant's number of years of full-time appraisal experience as follows:
|ACCREDITED MEMBER (AM) |
If you have 2-5 years of full-time appraisal experience, you may apply for the Accredited Member (AM) designation.
|ACCREDITED SENIOR APPRAISER (ASA) |
If you have 5 or more years of full-time appraisal experience, you may apply for the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation.
Step 4: Accreditation Application Processing
When ASA receives your completed accreditation application (See Note1), it is sent out for review by the International Board of Examiners (BOE). Two members of the BOE will review your entire accreditation package. The initial examiner will complete a review of your file within forty (40) days and return the packet to ASA Headquarters. The file is then sent to the second reviewer who also has forty (40) days to review and return your file to ASA Headquarters. The results will be mailed to you once the two reviews are completed.
Upon completion of these requirements, you will become either an Accredited Member (AM) or an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA).
Note1 For all accreditation applications, once the package is received, an email notification from ASA will be sent within two business days.
