Students From 11 Countries Come Together for ASA Aviation Course

Jul 02, 2021

The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and JSSI Advisory Services just wrapped up the last aircraft specific POV class, a unique online continuing education initiative for aircraft appraisers, lenders, insurers, and maintenance professionals.

30 students attended ASA’s ME204-ACS ‘Understanding Advanced Topics in Aircraft Appraisals’ virtual course: coming together from 11 countries all over the world including, Australia, Canada, China, Dubai, Germany, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Russia, Singapore, Turkey, and United States. Four major entities in the commercial space joined forces to present and discuss the broad spectrum of the aviation world to enhance their career path and professional standing in aircraft appraisals, banking and finance and related fields.

The four-part virtual series is tailored to the needs of professionals involved in the aircraft inspection and appraisal process, covering topics such as hard-time and on-condition engines, desktop appraisals, quantifying diminution in value, and the latest updates to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Successful completion of all four courses will earn attendees up to eight hours of ASA continuing education credits.

“It was great to see both the participation in the candidates expand along with industry and expert speakers to develop an excellent overall program. Thanks for all the help and coordination of the headquarters staff and Johnnie White for his leadership and guidance”. said Bob Gallagher, Zeus Appraisals and Aircraft POV course instructor.

The course builds on the fundamental principles of appraisal terminology, methods and concepts, and basic aircraft terms, aviation concepts and applications discussed in the prior three courses. ME204-ACS covers report writing, defending your report, professional standards and ethics, and various approaches to appraising commercial aircraft. Students also learned the appraising of unique aircraft assets: warbirds and donative properties; appraising inventory of aircraft parts; how aircraft damage affects diminution of value; appraising commercial aircrafts; and advanced topics of aircraft engine appraisals.

ASA’s Aircraft Valuation Program as proved to be in demand. Its success this past year has catapulted ASA to sponsor another series starting this fall. Registration is open for the first virtual course happening on Monday, October 4 -7, 2021. Its first subsequent course is also open and scheduled for December 7-10, 2021.

"We are looking forward to welcoming in a new class of international students with the start of a new series of POV aircraft classes this fall that will span into the spring, as it will help in elevating the knowledge and skills for all that are in the profession." added Johnnie White, CEO of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA).

The next series is available to both ASA members and non-members with discounts available to members. To find out more and register, visit:
