Course Description
This course will
build upon the fundamental principles of appraisal terminology, methods and
concepts discussed in ME201-ACS. Students will be introduced to basic aircraft terms,
aviation concepts, and application and aircraft logbooks and other records.
ME202-ACS will assist students in broadening their skill set and enhancing their career
path and professional standing in aircraft valuation, banking and finance, and
related fields.
Instructional Methods
In addition to lectures and materials, this course will
provide opportunities for participants to:
- Read and discuss MTS journal articles that highlight
current developments in the aircraft appraising profession;
- Discuss current, historic and potential future impact
to aircraft values;
- Learn from expert guest lecturers from the aviation
industry on important topics relevant for aircraft valuers; and
- Gain hands on experience with aircraft
assets.
Aircraft Valuation Program
ASA now offers all four MTS Principles of Valuation
courses with a focus on aviation valuation (ME201-ACS - MTS204-ACS).
Students will no longer be required to pass an aviation specialty exam in
order to earn an AM or ASA designation.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able
to:
- Understand the functions and purposes of
appraisals;
- Assess the three approaches to Value and
Depreciation;
- Discuss the Sales Comparison Approach or Market
Approach to Value;
- Understand the Income Approach and Discounted Cash
Flow Analysis (DCF);
- Identify the introduction to statistical concepts and
forecasting techniques;
- Define aircraft terms, aviation concepts and
application and aircraft logbooks and other records;
- Assess field inspection techniques and safety;
- Aviation databases used by aircraft appraisers; and
- Understand ethics and professional standards.
