Course Description
Eric Fritz, manager, Gem-A, North America, will untether appraisers
from their microscopes to be more proficient in the field and present creative
gem testing techniques that work around mounting restrictions. Professional
appraisers know that time is money and proper gem identification can be a
lengthy process. Students will learn to use the full arsenal of gem testing
equipment to reach a fast and accurate ID.
This is a comprehensive four day class with lectures and lab testing. All
testing equipment will be provided but students may bring their own gemological
tools if preferred.
Registrants will receive a copy of Gem-A’s Practical Gem Handbook (normally a
separate charge) and will be able to purchase complete portable kits if
needed.
Experianced and newly graduating gemologists will learn and
implement valuable gemological techniques and information. For those wishing to
become FGA’s, this is an excellent introduction to Gem-A’s gem testing
methodology.
FGA is a Fellow of the
Gemmological Association, the World’s highest recognized distinction in gemology
and administered by Gem-A, The Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
