Course Description
The Advanced Topics in Aircraft Appraisals II course,
ME204-ACS (Machinery and Equipment Aircraft Specialty), is the final of four courses
on aircraft specific appraisals required as part of the Accredited Member
(AM) or Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation awarded by the American Society
of Appraisers (ASA). The course is taught by seasoned ASA aviation-industry practitioners considered experts in
their field. The course builds on the fundamental principles of appraisal
terminology, methods and concepts, and basic aircraft terms, aviation concepts
and applications discussed in the prior three courses. ME204-ACS covers report writing, defending
your report, professional standards and ethics, damaged aircraft appraisals,
and various approaches to appraising commercial aircraft. The course exposes
participants to a broad spectrum of the aviation world to enhance their career
path and professional standing in aircraft appraisals, banking and finance and
related fields.
Instructional Methods
In addition to lectures and materials, this course provides opportunities for
participants to:
- Read and discuss MTS journal articles that highlight
current developments in the aircraft appraising profession
- Discuss current, historic and possible future impact
to values for different sectors of aviation equipment
- Listen to expert guest speakers from the aviation industry on important
topics relevant for aircraft appraisers

Course Audience
The course is intended for aircraft brokers, aviation
appraisers, and professionals in aviation banking, financing, and aircraft maintenance industries.
Aircraft Valuation Program
ASA now offers all four MTS Principles of Valuation courses with a focus
on aviation valuation (ME201-ACS - MTS204-ACS). Students will no
longer be required to pass an aviation specialty exam in order to earn an AM or
ASA designation.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course,students will be able to understand and master:
- Appraising of unique aircraft assets: warbirds and
donative Properties;
- Appraising inventory of aircraft parts;
- How aircraft damage affect diminution of value;
- Appraising commercial aircraft;
- Advanced topics of aircraft engine appraisals; and
- Writing and defending aircraft appraisal reports.
