Course Description
Jewelry Forensice for Appraisers: The Evaluation of Jewelry Design and
Engineering, Manufacturing Methods, Workmanship Quality and Condition
This course will enable jewelry appraisers of all levels to better analyze and assess the
quality of jewelry in order to establish value.
This course will cover the following topics:
- Properties and characteristics of precious jewelry metal alloys;
- Identifying common manufacturing methods by the distinctive traces they
leave behind;
- Objectively assessing workmanship quality for long-term durability or risk
of failure; and
- An introduction of GIA’s Quality Assurance Benchmarking (QAB)
No prerequisites for this course.
