Jack Beckwith’s area of expertise is primarily machinery
& equipment/personal property. However, he has valued buildings and
improvements for insurance purposes. Though he is based in Texas, Mr. Beckwith
has performed and supervised valuations throughout the United States, Canada,
Mexico, and Europe. His appraisal experience has expanded to include valuations
of a variety of industrial, commercial and institutional properties including,
but not limited to: construction equipment, convenience stores, farm and ranch
equipment, ferrous & non-ferrous metal recycling, healthcare services/
medical devices, millwork production, paper and pulp products, petroleum
refueling stations, plastics manufacturing, steel fabricators, teaching
institutions, public utilities, foundries, automotive (OEM and suppliers), and
other industries. He has been an ASA Staff Instructor teaching the principle of
valuation courses throughout the United States. Currently, Mr. Beckwith is the
ASA Representative for the International Valuation Standards Committee based in
London. Prior to beginning his professional career, Mr. Beckwith earned his BBA
at the University of Texas, served on the University of Incarnate Word Nursing
Advisory Board and is currently serving on the Advisory Board for Boerne YMCA and the Kronkosky Place.

Chief Appraiser | U.S. Bank
Tom is the Chief Appraiser for U.S. Bank where he is
responsible for the Bank’s national commercial real estate appraisal and
environmental services. He has been active in the valuation industry for
30 years. Tom served on the Standards Board of the International Valuation
Standards Council from 2008 - 2014. He has been certified by the Appraisal
Foundation’s Appraiser Qualifications Board as a USPAP instructor. Tom is an
approved national instructor and seminar developer for the Appraisal
Institute. He served on the Appraisal Institute’s National Board of
Directors from 2001 – 2003. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Finance
from the University of Oregon.

- What is IVSC
- Background as global acceptable standard
- Overview of framework of IVS
- Implementing compliance measures
- Participating members, stakeholders, and regulators; and
- 2020 adoption of IVS by all Valuation Professional Organizations (VPOs).
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course,students will be able to:
- Summarize the history and role of the International
Valuation Standards Council;
- Provide a compare and contrast of IVS and USPAP;
- Present additional steps needed in order to make a USPAP valuation
compliant with IVS;
- Discuss future directions for the standards; and
- Discuss the need for global standards.
