Course Description
This session will address the issues that appraisers
continuously face in their appraisal practice, particularly those issues of the
more litigious nature such as divorce. Topics include covering your professional
liability in assignment agreements, and tips on determining who your client is.
Several ethical questions will be addressed such as future assignments with the
property that you have appraised, sharing drafts with your client before you
have been paid, and citing sources in your appraisals without pre-approvals.
Strategic compromises and "the fraud triangle theory" will also be discussed.
Personal Property appraiser Lela Hersh, ASA will pose questions to Business
Valuation appraiser Jeffrey W. Brend, ASA. Brend is an attorney, financial specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
