Webinar Course Description
The term "Provenance," the history of ownership and transfer of artworks, has made headlines following restitution battles of objects looted during World War II. While Provenance is instrumental in the return of artworks to their rightful owners, it is also very useful for art collectors and professionals for the authentication, valuation, and proof of ownership of artworks. This webinar will address the diverse applications of provenance research for appraisers, including due diligence, authentication, attribution, proof of ownership and how they affect valuation. Using case studies, this presentation will provide the tools, methodology and various resources at hand to help appraisers in their practice. While fine art examples are cited in this course, appraisers of all disciplines can benefit from the knowledge of how provenance impacts value.
Course Audience
Personal Property Fine Arts Appraisers and those interested in Fine Art resources
