Jewelry Appraisal Handbook - Hard Copy

Hard Copy Only

The Jewelry Appraisal Handbook is an indispensible reference work for the practicing gems and jewelry appraiser. It contains field-tested tables for estimating the weights of the various shapes of mounted melée diamonds by their measurements, and tables and formulae for the other gemstones.

It also provides in distilled form the most current information from the Gemological Institute of America on their diamond cut grading system and plotting symbols and the essential properties for use in gemstone identification. Other sections include a scheme for describing jewelry condition, ASA’s Descriptive Elements for Gems and Jewelry, and a means for calculating retail mark-ups from wholesale cost based on the Jewelers of America’s Cost of Doing Business Survey. Yet other sections address pearls, gold coins, fineness marks, and a list of useful website links that are live for the PDF purchaser.

9th edition contains newly updated sections including a graphic deption of various Chain Styles; updated appraisal research links in the Web Links Project (live in the PDF version), retail markup information; and a summary (including schematics and basic descriptions) of the most important advanced gemological laboratory instruments currently in use. Please see the Table of Contents for more detailed information.
