Important Virtual Class Information
This class will be taught by a live instructor over the course of three days
with an exam on the fourth day. Students will meet virtually with the instructor
over the internet and will engage in discussions and classroom exercises.

Downloadable course materials to include a Student Manual and any
additional handouts i.e. administrative/exam guidance, if applicable.
All course materials are PDF Download Only items made available to students
prior to the start of the class and are not for resale or
distribution.
Attendance
Registrants must participate in the entire class (all class sessions) in
order to sit for the exam and receive a certificate following successful
completion of exam. The class will not be recorded or provided as an archive per
accrediting body guidelines.
Final Exam
All exams will be conducted through ASA’s online exam platform. Successful
completion of the exam is required in order to pass the class. Students must
complete the online exam within 21 days after the class concludes. Further exam
instructions and guidance will be provided within the eMaterials once available.
Certificate of Completion
Please allow 10-15 business days following successful completion of the exam
in order to receive a certificate of completion via email notification. The
certificate will be available for download under “My ASA Courses” on the ASA
website (login required).
Instructors
J. Mark Penny, ASA
Mr. Penny, who holds the designation of senior member
in the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), prepares valuation analyses of
privately held firms for numerous purposes including recapitalizations,
equitable distributions, estate planning, employee stock ownership plans,
mergers and acquisitions, fairness opinions, purchase price allocation and
calculation of economic damages. Mr. Penny is also experienced in estimating the
value and useful life of intangible assets including goodwill, customer lists,
franchises, trademarks, tradenames and professional degrees. Mr. Penny has
prepared valuations for a wide range of businesses including manufacturing
companies, communications firms, various professional practices, small
businesses and agricultural enterprises. Mr. Penny has been qualified as an
expert witness and testified in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and
Florida. He has lectured on the topic of business valuation on behalf of the
National Center for Employee Ownership and before estate planning groups.

business valuation and merger and acquisition consultants. Associate, later
Partner and Managing Director.

Barry
J. Shea, ASA, IFA, ARM-RP
Barry Shea of Barry Shea and Associates has over 37
years of experience in the real estate industry, specializing in the appraisal
of residential properties. He has served on the Appraisal Standards Board of the
Appraisal Foundation, including 3 years as chair and he is a past member and
chair of the New Hampshire Real Estate Appraiser Board. He currently represents
the Foundation on the International Ethics Standards Coalition and is secretary
of that group. He is also a course developer, AQB Certified USPAP Instructor and
an IDECC Certified distance education instructor. He has taught numerous real
estate, appraisal, general business, and USPAP courses. Mr. Shea has also been
an active volunteer serving on national and local organizations’ boards and has
been awarded various awards for his leadership and service.

materials. Print/hard copies will not be available onsite. Once eMaterials
have been distributed, courses are no longer refundable.

Attendees should bring to class either an electronic copy
(loaded on a laptop or mobile device) or a print copy of all course handouts to
use as a reference. All course eMaterials are in an Adobe PDF format which can
be viewed using the free Adobe Reader application. eMaterials are presented in
color and are bookmarked and comment/typewriter enabled. When opting to print eMaterials, it is recommended that you adjust the print
settings to print in black and white (or grayscale) and
consider printing double-sided on recycled paper.
