I have handled appraisal cases for a number of insurance companies and banks including Continental Insurance, State Farm Insurance, Allstate Insurance, Cigna Insurance, Chubb, Fidelity and Deposit Company, USAA, Fireman’s Fund Insurance, Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, J.P. Morgan, Hibernia National Bank, Parish National Bank, Whitney National Bank and First Bank & Trust.  In my appraisal practice I have been engaged by many of the major law firms in Louisiana.  Additionally, I have appraised furniture, silver, ceramics, art glass and other decorative arts in the collections of several historic houses and works donated to the New Orleans Museum of Art, Magnolia Mound Plantation, the Historic New Orleans Collection, Louisiana State University, University of Southern Mississippi and other museums and institutions.

In my professional capacity I appraise antiques including furniture, decorations, crystal, silver, porcelains, art pottery, lighting; and residential contents including contemporary furnishings, collectibles, appliances, hand and power tools and electronics.  For twelve years I consulted and cataloged for two New Orleans auction galleries in the areas of silver, porcelain, decorations and furniture.

I do not appraise fine arts, such as paintings, prints, etchings and sculpture and jewelry. Nor do I appraise Elvis Presley, Beatles or sports memorabilia, records, photographs, dolls, rare books, documents, coins and stamps, Oriental rugs, ivory and Pre-Columbian and African artifacts.  In addition, I do not appraise Real Estate or Automobiles.

Admitted as an expert witness in Louisiana District Courts in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Mary’s, Lafourche, West Feliciana and Terrebonne Parishes and Federal District Court in New Orleans, testifying for both plaintiffs and defendants.

The American Society of Appraisers has a mandatory recertification program including continuing education for all Senior Members.  I am in compliance with that program, having recertified in 2014.

My computer generated reports are professionally presented and bound and supported by photographs loaded on to a CD. The reports contain a descriptive inventory, including age, origin, size and condition, and a letter of transmittal, a bibliography describing how the appraisal was conducted and the sources of my research and with a glossary of appraisal terms.

My reports have been accepted by the Internal Revenue Service and the major insurance carriers and conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, the industry standard.

My fee is based on an hourly rate for the on-premises survey, for research and report preparation time and for travel.
