Founder and principle of C. M. Woolford and Associates, LLC an independent gem and jewelry appraisal, brokering and buying service in the Richmond, Virginia area since 1989. 

 

Special project researcher for “the Guide”, a wholesale colored stone price guide.

 

Founder, editor and co-publisher of the “Jewelry Price Report” (“JPR”), a quarterly report available to the jewelry trade containing quality and condition information on antique and period jewelry comparables sold at national auctions.

 

Instructor of jewelry appraising for the Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) Extension Division.

 

Instructor of diamond grading and assisted in colored stone training for the Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) resident program in New York, New York.

 

Sold high quality antique and period jewelry for Avanti Antiques on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts.

    2004 - A panel of international experts presented information on synthetic diamond production and treatment with hands-on synthetic diamond identification techniques.  Update on the bulk diffusion treatment of corundum. 

2005 - Full day of presentations by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Society (AGS) on the research behind their new diamond grading reports.  Other laboratories presented their proprietary diamond grading reports with information on techniques used to produce these reports.
