ARM members need to successfully complete a 7-hour USPAP Update Course with every new release of USPAP (ie every time a new USPAP version and course is available - usually every two (2) years). ARM members may take any version of USPAP to meet their continuing education requirements.
Important Note: New members in applicant status pursuing the Business Valuation designation are required to complete the BV-specific 15-Hour USPAP Course.
Business Valuation (BV) designated members must complete a minimum of seven (7) hours of USPAP coursework every five (5) years. If this requirement is missed, members are encouraged to take the 15-Hour USPAP Course and pass the accompanying exam to regain compliance. Alternatively, the 7-Hour USPAP Update Course is also acceptable. Members should always obtain the most current edition of USPAP as it becomes available and adjust their practice methodologies as needed to align with any changes. ASA strongly recommends that Business Valuation members take the BV specific versions of the 7-Hour or 15-Hour USPAP Courses.

Designated RP appraisers (including Ad Valorem appraisers) need to complete the National USPAP Update Course with every new release of USPAP (usually every two (2) years).
